Gluten Free

  Why is gluten free so popular?   For years, people have had problems with starch products.  What has happened is that companies have began making gluten free products and vitamins.  Before manufacturers began making gluten free products, people would go to the doctor wondering why they were having certain reactions to foods.  If you are having trouble digesting certain foods, come over and give gluten free a shot.  We currently carry several gluten free bars as well as vitamins.  This is always a great alternative to improve your diet.

KIND BARS

Weekend of 6/12-13/2010

  We started carrying Kind bars recently.  Kind Bars are a great food bar because they are gluten free and made with all natural nuts and organic material.  Usually the bars are made with honey to keep them stuck together.  If you are looking for a great snack, come try a Kind Bar.

  Tomorrow is the start of the Second Saturdays hosted by the Town of Los Gatos.  Health e Centric powered by Athlete's Fuel will take part in this fantastic event. 

  Health e Centric will be offering two discounts:

Injuries and Training

  I am disabled!  My right hand is recovering from a partial break 2 months ago and then I partially tore my left bicep around 2 weeks ago.  So what do you do?  You just make it work.  There is always ways to adjust fitness to your physical state.  I continuously workout because it is the one thing I can continue to control.  It relieves stress and bottled up frustration.  If you are ever injured and need some advice on how to adjust your fitness training, feel free to email me or come by the store to chat.

Paleo Kits

  I can't keep the Paleo Kits on the shelf at the store.  So I have been in negotiations with the owner of Steve's Club.  He is genuine athlete and business owner.  Steve's Club is a non-profit organization that trains inner city youth the foundation of fitness.  All Paleo Kits profits go to Steve's Club.  I believe in supporting this cause as well as in finding the best possible price for my customers.  So here is the new breakdown for the new shipment of Paleo Kits. 

1-9 Paleo Kits - $7 a piece

10-20 Paleo Kits - $6.50 a piece

25 + - $6 a piece

  This way it is cheaper then ordering online as well as you can get them the same day.  It is 29.75 for 5 Paleo kits but $37.95 after shipping.  It is $148.75 for 25 kits but then with shipping it is $159.00.  If you come here to get your Paleo Kits it is

$65 for 10 Paleo Kits

$ 150 for 25 Paleo Kits

These prices that I got the store will cut costs by about $10 because of shipping costs.  Furthermore, you will still be helping a this great organization because the more I order from Steve's Club the more money they receive for training inner city youth.  

I wanted to give my customers some sort of a discount so this is what I could do.

Log Your Workouts!

  I tested a workout this morning that I did January 11, 2010.  The workout consisted of 

5-10-15 reps of

225lb back squat

24" Box Jump

That's it.  I mean a leg burner is an understatement.  So on January 11 I did it in a time of 3:28.  This morning I decided to retest it because I was in a rush and I knew it would be quick.  Well I did it in 2:49.  That is unbelievable that I have improved so much.  I can't believe it.   Think about a runner or swimmer that competes.  If they take off a tenth of a second in their sprint, it is an accomplishment.  But nearly 45 seconds!!!

  Now I am not writing this to brag or give my customers updates on my physical performance because I know you don't care.  The idea is to teach you that you should be logging your times in runs, lifts and workouts at all times.  This is the best way to know if your making progress.  A lot of times we work out so much that we cannot see a measurable difference over a few weeks.  Even when we are performing max lifts such as the clean or squat, we will have good days and bad days.  What will really tell you if your making progress is your times over an extended period of time.  3 months or more since the last time you tested something is a good base line.  So if you don't log your workouts, you might want to start today.  Don't waste your workouts anymore.

2nd Saturday's!

Listen To Your Body!

Weekend of 6/5-6/2010

  My body is completely shutting down!  How do I know?  You can feel it in performance, work, and any other daily activities.  I have always said the best results will come from listening to your body.  I have such a tremendous drive but sometimes you have to swallow your bride and just relax.  Tomorrow will be a rest day.  I know many of you are driven individuals, usually the people that love working out are, but please listen to your body. You are doing more damage then help.

It's That Time Again!

  Well it is that time of year again?  It is hot out and people are beach bound.  Are you in the shape you want to be?  Most people aren't.  If you look back to my first post of the new year, I mentioned that spring break and summer come awfully quick.  Before you know it, it is time to be at the pool all day.  Most people let the rain and overcast weather fool them.  It is only 8 weeks from Jan 1st to Spring Break and about 16 weeks till summer.  Preparation starts months in advance.  It is never too late to start.  If you need guidance in your diet.  Please come by and speak with Justin.  Health e Centric does consulting.  For more information, please email us at healthecentric@gmail.com or come in for an evaluation.

Altering Your Diet

  A lot of people go to a 7-Eleven and buy trail mix or beef jerky because they believe it is a good alternative to aid in a healthy diet.  I would most likely agree, however, the jerky and nuts come from a manufacturing plant somewhere in our great country.

  When you come to Health e Centric, go to the diet and nutrition station.  We have trail mix which is completely organic.  All the nuts and berries come from South America.  We also have a product called Paleo Kits which is grass fed jerky.  As much as I support someone changing their diet, I also believe in thoroughly changing it.  Do not change your diet and start putting artificial products in your body.  Thats like saying your drinking coke but it is diet coke.  Regardless if it is diet or not, the chemicals your putting in your body is not the right alternative.
