Welcome Back

Monday 8/9/2010

I am so happy to see that my bicep injury is basically fully healed.  I can clean 275lbs no problem and have been preforming muscle ups and pull-ups consecutively.  Training while injured is a possibility and I believe it helped me heal quickly.  When you get blood to your injured body parts, it will help heal your body quicker.  Check out my link below on my clean this morning.  I am able to come back to heavy lifting quickly because I was able to maintain my same muscle even though my training was altered.  There are ways to train around injuries, everything else is just an excuse.

Gluten Newsletter

Weekend of 8/6-8/2010

Ever wonder the truth behind gluten.  Check out the latest newsletter.

GLUTEN!

Justin Moles
Founder and President
HealtheCentric

There has been a big media frenzy on gluten allergies and gluten diets. There are several restaurants that even offer gluten free menus. They make gluten free pizza, noodles and beer. That being said, what is gluten and why would you even want gluten free foods or beverages? Gluten is a special type of protein called gliadin and glutenin often found in wheat, rye and barley. Most cereals and bread contain gluten. However, not all foods from the grain family contain gluten. Gluten free grains are, sunflower seeds, soybeans, oats, teff, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, millet, wild rice and corn.

How does gluten free products work? When the gliadin and glutenin proteins go into a substance, the starch is washed out, while the protein remains in the cereal or bread. This then creates a gluten free, starch product such as cereal or bread.

Recent studies in the medical field show that several individuals have Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is an inherited, autoimmune disease in which the lining of the small intestine is damaged from eating gluten and other proteins found in barley, rye, oats and wheat.

Some key signs of Celiac Disease are:

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Abdominal pain, gas, bloating or indigestion

Celiac disease has been diagnosed to many patients over the past several years who have had indigestion problems after eating certain foods. Individuals with Celiac Disease must ingest foods that do not contain gluten in order to avoid illness. If it is not properly treated, Celiac Disease can be fatal. Individuals must be cautious when eating grains that do not contain gluten, particularly oats and teff, since they are commonly grown near food with gluten or processed in the same bin.

With the gluten free craze sweeping the nation, Health E Centric has devoted our time to carrying 97% of our supplements or vitamins as gluten free. Gluten can be found in several pill capsules. Furthermore, we carry a lot of gluten free bars and snacks. I have been gluten free for about 1 year now. I do not have Celiac Disease but my diet is a zero starch to high monounsaturated fat ratio. Otherwise known as the Paleolithic Diet. Using gluten free supplements as well as substituting gluten free bread, pasta, beer and pizza in my diet, keeps my diet clean while following the strict rules to keep my performance levels in fitness a top priority.

What is the Paleolithic Diet? Tune in next week to find out.

Thank God a high authority has recognized that women's fitness is a good thing.  A lot of women are scared of a barbell.  But why?  You probably think you will end up "getting bulky" by lifting weight.  But the truth is, you can only "get bulky" by lifting heavy weight and ingesting a lot of calories and proteins.  If you want to increase weight, then you need to increase caloric intake and protein.  It is very simple.

Nike recently released an Ad displaying the message that having strong attributed from weight training is not bad.  Actually men prefer it.  Until this stereotype changes, women will remain afraid of weight training.  Check out the Ad below.

Sculife.com

Wednesday 8/3/2010s

Some of you might now that I am a fellow alumni of the prestigious Santa Clara University.  A fellow alumni recently reached out to me and wanted to write a story about my business venture.  The site is called Sculife.com.  This is a very good site for current students or alumni to follow  university news, classes to take, athletics etc.

Sculife was created by Conrad Egusa, class of 2009.  Conrad currently resides in NY and runs the site from there.   I have been following it for quite some time, far before this story was written.  It keeps me in the loop for current events.

Conrad recently wrote an article about Health e Centric.  Check it out.

Wheat Grass Exposed

Justin Moles
Founder and President
HealtheCentric

The sound of wheat grass never sounds too appealing. I would much rather hear the word cheeseburger, pizza, milkshake or Snickers Bar. Wheat Grass may not have you drooling at the mouth, but the benefits are substantial.

I would like to start with the myths of Wheat Grass. There always has to be some critic that tries to degrade one of nature’s greatest gifts to us. Contamination of soil constituents is a problem in the agricultural industry, but as you will soon notice, the benefits far outweigh the side effects, if there truly are any?

Wheat Grass is a complete source of minerals, amino acids and vitamins that are abundant in any regular dosage. Wheat Grass contains:

  • 11 times more calcium then cow's milk
  • times more vitamin C in oranges
  • times more vitamin B1 than in whole wheat
  • times more iron than in spinach

Selenium and laetrile are abundantly available in wheat grass. Selenium and laetrile are important for their anti-cancer ability by alkalizing the body from free radicals. Wheat grass is high in antioxidants of vitamin B, C, E and beta carotene which will help release the free radicals that attack your cells. Therefore, the body becomes unidyllic for cancer cells to continue to expand.

Finally, wheat grass is very high in chlorophyll which creates a cleansing system to detoxify the body. If you thought Acai was the answer, wheat grass is known as a more powerful detoxifier. Chlorophyll also increases the production of hemoglobin in the blood which will strengthen your immune system.

Wheat grass can be taken in tablet or powder form. It can also be found in many "super green formulas" branded by many supplement companies. These formulas are a great addition to your diet and will contain several extracts that will give you daily vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

If you’re looking for a great way to clear up complexion, receive your essential daily nourishment and improve overall performance, wheat grass would be a great addition to your health.

Good Day and Good Health
